From Ruffles, with Love.

Every time I see ruffled-tops, ruffled dresses and the likes, I'd automatically think of romantic dates - from simple movie & popcorn dates to formal dining. I don't know but there's something that makes me associate it with romance. Maybe its the waves created from tightly gathering the edge of a fabric on one side which becomes a metaphor of "gathering" bits and pieces of oneself and tightly linking it to another - to wit, the dating period. Or maybe I just see a lot of people wearing ruffles, or anything frilly when they go on a date, and that it has become the "standards" to which I associate. (ugh, whatever now) seriously? Maybe.. maybe.. lots.uv maybe's but cannot put into fitting words. *aaack*

Since I've already mentioned and linked, here's what I wore when boyf and I celebrated our 26th LoveMonth going to the movies.

The top's a bazaar find, I just can't remember when and where I bought it. Anyway. It was the first time I brought it out of the closet to fit and see how I can play with it. It has a boat neckline. And I wasn't that comfy-confy that it goes well with my culottes. So I tried wearing its sleeves sideways, and voila - a ruffled one-shoulder top tucked inside my ukay-hit culottes. :)

I brought my handy-dandy black cardi with me (not-shown) knowing how chilly the cinemas could get especially during off-peak times. :)

Working it Out.

I am so caught in such a haze at the moment. I jump from one task to another. I rarely have time to myself, to my family and I rarely have fun times to spend with the boyf. Most of the times spent with boyf is stuck inside the car amusing ourselves with random things all through the exhausting and heavy traffic. O_O i love long drives. but not the long drive stuck and immobile.

I really have to work things out. Have to juggle tasks for mum and for work and for thy self. Let's just say I am working on papers to assist my plan to leave for the states (ugh. hope i get a visa before november so i can book early and not get pricey tickets).

ANYWAY.

As promised, here's my first installment on how I "rocked" my cheap finds last weekend, along side my i-wanna-be-stylish-too boyf (he gained weight and since then he kinna got stuck with same old jeans, shirt and sneaks, now he's trying to get outside the box and enjoy fashion with me). Awww-yuck! Cheese-overflow.

The layering was just perfect for the office's ventilation. But once I stepped out of our building, I knew I had to take it off.

Thrift Finds: Vintage Blouses + Poncho

Thrift shopping is something I super enjoy. And I'm so happy that I now have a thrift shopping bud (the boyf). A lot of people ask where's the best place to go thrift shopping. And personally, I think that every thrift shop in the metro has good finds in it. You just gotta have PATIENCE.

There are a lot of thrift stores in the metro, some big, some small. But most of the time, I rummage for great finds in either cubao (near my home) or makati cinema square (near my workplace). I go for familiarity and proximity given my quite on-the-go lifestyle.

Yesterday, boyf and i found time to visit the one at the corner of EDSA and Kamuning Rd. I planned to score some vintage bags and nice cover ups while boyf wanted to look for polos. Before we go thrift-shopping, we always have a list of items to look for. So that we save time and effort. Bottom-line, we know what we want. Boyf always go for what he really wants, while I always end up going after something else (teehee.. fickle me). Anyway, here's what we scored that day:

1. This one's quite pricey but I couldn't let go of it while sorting the things i just grabbed from the ones i really wanna keep. I got it for Php 180 (approx. $4)

2. These set of padded blouses the SUPER bargain! I got these at three item for Php 10 (approx. 22 cents for the three!) AWESOME, right?

 So yeah. Obviously, I didn't go with what was originally planned. Its just that, I got distracted and found myself scoring more looking for nice tops than vintage bags. I got a poncho and that's counted as a cover up anyway :)

Geek-Oh-Prep: 22 years and counting.

Time flies by so fast. *sigh*

It was just like yesterday when my "biggest" problem was which color of crayon to use, which clothes to put on barbie and more of those sort. And here comes another year, another 3rd of September. It's like the nearer I reach 25, the heavier the load gets on my back. Ugh. Will get there. Will get "there" just in time. *wink wink crosses fingers and trips*

ANYWAY. Enough of the drama.

My day is special. Marks the day when I was born, but unlike my past celebrations, I chose to have a casual dinner with my fam bam and boyf in a place where we can enjoy the company of our ever dearest "baby,"

We strolled around, and instead of shopping for myself at the bazaar, we ended up buying this cute little outfit for Barguette.

We also saw an uber cool high-cut "converse"-ish shoes for Barguette, but she hates almost everything that touches her paws. 

See, after struggling for bout 15 minutes, was just able to get one on her paw. It could've been cute.

Okay. Down to the outfit of the day. I wasn't really sure what to wear, but I definitely wanted to wear denim shorts. For some reason, I have more pair of shorts than jeans. The weather. The weather.

After my polly-wonderland look, i thought of doing a series of Geek-Preppy-ish looks. It may not be that geek or preppy enough, but it's just a fusion of my style with that of the geek-preppy-ish key details :)
